Shannon Rose Merrigan is a local artist born and raised in the Portland area. A graduate of Portland State University, she received her Bachelor's Degree in Art Practices in June, 2017. Merrigan’s artistic concepts stem from her personal interpretation of nature and her emotional and intellectual responses to her experience. Drawing and painting for over twenty years, she has an extensive collection of work and several of her pieces are in private collections in the Portland Metropolitan area. She has participated in several group shows beginning with 50 Works at Portland State University’s MK Gallery and the 35th Annual Gender Studies Symposium at Lewis and Clark College in Spring of 2016. The same year she had multiple paintings published in two issues of Portland State Universities Pathos Literary Magazine. In 2018 Merrigan participated in festivals such as Tigard art Walk, and Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts in 2018, as well as two shows, Portland Rooted Rose Show and Winterfest at East Creative in Portland. Her paintings were shown in two different shows at Gresham Visual Arts Gallery in 2018 and she is scheduled to exhibit there in May 2019 in a group show titled Here There and Everywhere. She is also scheduled to exhibit at East Creative's next show in May 2019 titled Rebirth, Rejuvenation and Revolution.
